EXPERTS’ WORKSHOPS EC “ASSESSMENT OF THE MEMBER STATES’ RULES ON HEALTH DATA IN THE LIGHT OF GDPR 2019/2020″ – Brussels, 28-29 January 2020

Representation of the Ministry of Health by Nikolas Anastasopoulos as national health data expert at the European Commission’s Experts’ Workshops on  Health Data Protection.

A very interesting and vibrant workshop has taken place in Brussels concerning the protection of health data with the participation of several key factors at EC, and Member States level. Some of the issues discussed: What is and should be Primary and Secondary Use of health data? How is the notion of portability percieved in 2020? Does anonymization exonerates researchers and third parties from GDPR obligations? In what extend a Code of Conduct on health data secondary use will be helpful? What governance system do we want on the matter and with what qualities?
